The Louisville Ballet School’s Summer Intensive Program blends classical training with contemporary sensibilities. The School’s comprehensive curriculum focuses on strengthening technique while striving to achieve a greater sense of athleticism, artistry, clarity, grace, speed and musicality.
The Louisville Ballet School is a premiere center for training and educating young dancers. The faculty includes current and former members of some of the most prestigious dance companies in the world. Every faculty member serves as a mentor helping dancers further develop their skills and appreciation of dance. Each student accepted into our program is encouraged to realize their individual potential through the attention available in a smaller class.
In order to ensure each dancer receives personalized attention from our faculty, the Summer Intensive program is limited to 45 students in each of two divisions. Dancers attend classes in ballet, pointe, variations, repertoire, pas de deux, modern, and contemporary composition from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm on weekdays. Students also take enrichment classes in a range of complimentary dance styles, which may include, character dance, Flamenco, jazz, musical theater, Pilates, yoga and injury prevention.
Outside the studio, students enjoy a myriad of experiences ranging from field trips to local museums to performances by some of the region’s best arts organizations. Young dancers will have an opportunity to further develop their craft while making new friends and exploring the many unique locally owned businesses, restaurants and attractions of this exciting River City.
