Session I: 2-week Summer Intensive Program (6/14/15 – 6/26/15)
Session II: 2-week Summer Intensive Program (6/28/15 – 7/10/15)
The Louisville Ballet School’s Summer Intensive Program blends classical training with contemporary sensibilities. The School’s comprehensive curriculum focuses on strong technique that is rooted in the traditions of classical ballet and inspired by a contemporary vision of the future.
The Louisville Ballet School is a premiere center for training and educating young dancers. Our distinguished faculty hold extensive professional credentials and includes Company members and artistic staff from the Louisville Ballet as well as the finest local instructors teaching complementary dance styles.
Through the attention available in smaller classes, we nurture each student in developing their lifelong appreciation for dance and movement while supporting their continuing quest for greater athleticism, artistry, clarity, grace, speed, and musicality.
In order to ensure each dancer receives personalized attention from our faculty, the Summer Intensive program is limited to 45 students in each of two divisions. Dancers attend classes in ballet, pointe, variations, repertoire, pas de deux, modern, and contemporary composition from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm on weekdays. Students also take enrichment classes in a range of complementary dance styles, which may include character dance, Flamenco, jazz, musical theater, Pilates, yoga, and injury prevention.
Outside the studio, students enjoy a myriad of experiences ranging from field trips to local museums to performances by some of the region’s best arts organizations. Young dancers will have an opportunity to further develop their craft while making new friends and exploring the many unique locally owned businesses, restaurants, and attractions of this exciting River City.
Supervised Housing for 2015 is available in our upgraded facilities, courtesy of Marriott’s Residence Inn Downtown. Dancers will be lodged nearby the studio and many downtown attractions in over-sized suites with modern conveniences and luxurious amenities.
