The Louisville Ballet School’s Summer Intensive Program blends classical training with contemporary sensibilities. The School’s comprehensive curriculum focuses on strengthening technique while striving to achieve a greater sense of athleticism, artistry, clarity, grace, speed and musicality.

The Louisville Ballet School is a premiere center for training and educating young dancers. The faculty includes current and former members of some of the most prestigious dance companies in the world.  Every faculty member serves as a mentor helping dancers further develop their skills and appreciation of dance.  Each student accepted into our program is encouraged to realize their individual potential through the attention available in a smaller class.

In order to ensure each dancer receives personalized attention from our faculty, the Summer Intensive program is limited to 45 students in each of two divisions.  Dancers attend classes in ballet, pointe, variations, repertoire, pas de deux, modern, and contemporary composition from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm on weekdays.  Students also take enrichment classes in Pilates, jazz, character dance, music appreciation and injury prevention.

Outside the studio, students enjoy a myriad of experiences ranging from field trips to local museums to performances by some of the region’s best arts organizations. Young dancers will have an opportunity to further develop their craft while making new friends and exploring the many unique locally owned businesses, restaurants and attractions of this exciting River City.

New Supervised Housing for 2012 is available in our upgraded facilities, courtesy of Marriott’s Springhill Suites Downtown.  Dancers will be lodged nearby the studio and many downtown attractions in oversized suites with modern conveniences and luxurious amenities.

Deluxe extended-stay suites feature:

2 Queen Beds and Pull-out Sofa with chaise lounge, complete with luxurious bedding and crisp linens
Separate wash room and shower for easy and adaptable room-sharing

Pantry area / lounge with mini-refrigerator and microwave.

Large desk, voicemail, and free WiFi are available

Flat-screen LCD TVs with premium cable and movie channels

2012 Audition Tour

Ages 12 – 25; Intermediate through Pre-professional levels;  Minimum ½ – 1 year of pointe work for girls.

Application Forms are collected at the time of audition and must be accompanied by a $25 application fee.   Photos are not required, but dancers are welcome to submit dance photos and/or headshots.

Tuition, Housing, and Meals & Activities Fees
Housing:
Session I OR II: $360 – $540
Session I AND II: $780 – $1170

Meals & Activities:
Session I OR II: $500
Session I AND II: $1000

Tuition:
Session I OR II: $820
Session I AND II: $1,300

A non-refundable tuition deposit of $500 must be received within two weeks of acceptance to the program (if applicable). The balance for tuition and meals & activities (if residing in student housing) is due by May 18, 2012.  Installment plans are available. Early acceptance is advised as our program fills rapidly.

Housing reservation information will be provided upon confirmation of attendance and housing fees will be arranged directly with Springhill Suites.
