Parent Association of the Louisville Ballet School
The mission of the Parent Association of the Louisville Ballet School is to encourage and support the students of the Louisville Ballet School in their efforts to learn and grow in their study of dance and appreciation of the arts.
How to Help
PALS members help maintain the outstanding reputation of Louisville Ballet School as a leader in the artistic community while assisting in producing a creative and fun learning atmosphere for their children. PALS aspires to provide volunteers to support the programming of the Louisville Ballet School, fundraising support to the Louisville Ballet School, supplies necessary to ensure the comfort and safety of LBS students, and serve the School population at-large by creating a sense of community that extends beyond the dance studio. Like all enrichment programs, in order to give our children the best experience possible, it takes time and parent involvement to plan events and activities. Therefore, this year we have asked that each family volunteer a certain amount of of their time throughout the year based on the level of their child’s enrollment as well as donate items from our donation list.

Our involvement in fundraising and school activities includes, but is not limited to:
Marketing – promoting School events, performances, and fundraising opportunities
Communications – sending email updates to PALS members to coordinate PALS meetings and activitiesFundraising – researching and selecting fundraising opportunities
Events – planning and hosting various events throughout the school year
Beautification – Assisting in facility improvement projects such as painting and decorating for special events
Development - Research, identify and obtain corporate or private sponsorship of various school activities
Treats – Coordination of Goodies, Flowers, and refreshments for various events
Specific Volunteer Needs
Assist visitors at Open Houses, Spring Showcase, and PALS-sponsored events
Tidying and sanitizing lobby area and assisting with additional construction and beautification projects at the studios
Costuming -be available to sew/ repair costumes (must have sewing experience and equipment)
Promoting PALS fundraisers and events to other parents while students attend class
Chaperoning at Spring Showcase rehearsals and performances and PALS-sponsored events
Collecting and organizing donated supplies
Distribute School marketing materials throughout the community
Seeking corporate or third-party sponsorship of School / PALS events or programming
Provide support to administrative / office staff in various projects throughout the year
Providing refreshments for students and faculty during special events, holidays, and teacher appreciation week
Selling parking spots in the Louisville Ballet parking lot for Louisville Bats Baseball games and various special events
Volunteer Time
It takes many parents to organize and coordinate the various events which immensely benefit our children. Therefore, we ask parents to volunteer in order to help evenly distribute the work, give our children the best experience possible and create lasting memories. Without volunteers, many projects and events would simply not be available.
Donation of Supplies
You can find the donation list on the PALS Bulletin Board in the lobby at the St. Matthews Studios. For example, we would not want 50 plates of cookies and no donations of water, etc.
Primary Division
Minimum expectation: 1 donated item per semester
This is an exploration time for these students. We understand that and realize that they are just being introduced to the wonderful world of ballet and dance. Therefore, we ask our preschool age parents to donate one item from our “donation” list.
Elementary & Youth Open Divisions
Minimum expectation: 1 donated item per semester; 1 parent (or adult family member) volunteer event per semester
Elementary and Youth level parents are expected to donate one item from our “donation” list each semester. You are also expected to volunteer at least one time per semester in some form. Each Elementary Division parent is expected to choose an event or area and volunteer to help with that area.
Intermediate & Pre-Professional Division
Minimum expectation: 2 donated items; 2 parent (or adult family member) volunteer events per semester
Intermediate and Pre-Professional Division parents are expected to donate two items from our “donation” list each semester. Each Intermediate and Pre-Professional Division parent is also expected to choose two events or area and volunteer to help with that area. You are expected to volunteer at least two times per semester in some form.
Louisville Ballet Youth Ensemble Dancers
Minimum expectation: 4 additional donated items; 4 additional parent (or granparent) volunteer events per semester
Being a part of the Youth Ensemble (LBYE) is a privilege that also carries a certain responsibility. Many of the PALS funds go to support LBYE events, including the annual trip to the SERBA Festival. It takes a lot of parents to provide these events and benefits to our children. Therefore, we ask this to not only help evenly distribute the work, but help give our children the best experience and memories possible. Without volunteers, many fundraising projects would simply not be available. Therefore, we ask our Youth Ensemble parents for additional participation each semester. Families should also be donating/ volunteering at the Intermediate Division level. Therefore, you would be expected to provide two donated items plus four donated items for the LBYE totaling six donations per semester. In addition, you would be expected to volunteer a total for six special events each semester.
LBYE parents are expected to donate an ADDITIONAL four items from our “donation” list each semester, for a total of 6 items. LBYE parents are also expected to volunteer an ADDITIONAL four events or area and volunteer to help with that area. You are expected to volunteer a total of six times per semester in some form.
Annual Dues
Annual Dues $25 (Separate from student’s school registration fee.)
