PRINCIPAL

A Bulgarian native, Phillip began training at the Sofia State Choreographic School, graduated from the Alabama School of Fine Arts and then joined the Alabama Ballet. He won the first full performing-arts scholarship in the history of Birmingham-Southern College, where he received a B.A. in dance with honors. He won the 1998 Birmingham Fine Arts Society Award for Excellence in Dance and an audience award at the 2002 USA IBC. Before joining the Louisville Ballet, Phillip was a soloist with Ballet Internationale in Indianapolis. His repertoire includes lead roles in Paquita, Les Sylphides, Le Corsaire, Esmeralda, Romeo and Juliet, 1001 Nights, Don Quixote, Carmen and Giselle.
