The Louisville Ballet celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2012. For this, our Diamond Jubilee season, we offer patrons some of the best in both full-length story ballets, perfect for all members of the family, and exciting, contemporary dance created by some of the world’s leading choreographers.

Music by P. I. Tchaikovsky The Louisville Ballet has heralded in the holidays for almost fifty years with this yuletide favorite. Generations of local youngsters have grown up with Marie (sometimes known as Clara), her Nutcracker, and that dastardly Rat King. In 2009, the Company debuted an all new production with a re-imagined world for these family friends complete with stunning choreography, fantastic costumes, scenery and illusions. This magical tale of a young girl, who overcomes adversity to find true love and happiness, reminds us that dreams really can come true.  The spring of 2012 marks the Louisville Ballet’s 60th Anniversary – our Diamond Jubilee. We will commemorate this momentous occasion at one of our early homes, the Brown Theatre, with a mixed repertory program featuring highlights from our six decades of dance, new work by Adam Hougland, and Sansei, a fresh look at the newest ballet by Louisville Ballet’s very own Mikelle Bruzina. Our 60th Anniversary Celebrationwill showcase selections ranging from classical to contemporary handpicked from our repertoire by Artistic Director Bruce Simpson.
