Do something original! Louisville, Kentucky has a truly unbridled spirit. Walk (or ride a trolley) around Louisville and you’ll find all the amenities of a large city with the friendliness and convenience of a small, southern town. It’s the best of both worlds that makes “the River City” a great place to work, visit and study. Louisville is proud to be the home of some pretty exciting things - the fastest two minutes in sports, the Kentucky Derby; North America’s largest annual pyrotechnic show, Thunder Over Louisville; over 2,500 restaurants and a Louisville Slugger baseball bat that weighs in at 68,000 pounds!

Louisville is also the home to an established and thriving arts community that encompasses a professional ballet company, a symphony, an opera company, an internationally recognized regional theatre and numerous museums and galleries. A summer in Louisville guarantees to be filled with dance, invaluable training and fun activities. We really have something for everyone.

The Louisville Ballet School’s Summer Intensive Program aims to blend classical training with a myriad of experiences ranging from field trips to local museums to performances by some of the region’s best arts organizations. Young dancers will have an opportunity to further develop their craft while making new friends and exploring the many shops, restaurants and attractions of this exciting River City.

In order to ensure each dancer receives personalized attention from our faculty, the Summer Intensive program is limited to 45 students in each of two divisions. Dancers attend classes in ballet, pointe, variations and modern from 9:30 am - 5:30 pm on weekdays. Students also take classes in Pilates, pas de deux, jazz, character dance, music appreciation and injury prevention.

The Louisville Ballet School is a premiere center for training and educating young dancers. The faculty includes current and former members of some of the most prestigious dance companies in the world. Every faculty member serves as a mentor helping dancers further develop their skills and appreciation of dance.

The School’s comprehensive curriculum focuses on strengthening technique while striving to achieve a greater sense of athleticism, artistry, clarity, grace, speed and musicality. Each student accepted into our program is encouraged to realize their individual potential through the attention available in a smaller class.
