Tawnee Thompson

Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Tawnee Thompson trained at the North Star Ballet School under her teachers Norman Shelburne and Sue Perry Jordan. She moved to Louisville in 2005 to dance with Louisville Ballet under the direction of Bruce Simpson, where she danced such ballets as Paquita, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. It was during this time that Tawnee discovered a love for entertaining through choreography in the annual Choreographer’s Showcase. After five seasons dancing with Louisville Ballet, Tawnee transitioned from company dancer to a member of The Louisville Ballet School’s faculty.

Tawnee is now the Classical Ballet Program Manager and the Ballet Mistress of the Junior and Apprentice Youth Ensemble for the School. She takes great joy in passing along the legacy of Classical Ballet technique to the next generation of dancers as well as a love and appreciation for the art.
