Summer is for Dancing

A quick update today as we jump into summer – sweet, sunshine-filled, blue sky summer. Our dancers may be away, but we’re still buzzing with excitement and energy in our Main Street Studios, at The Louisville Ballet School, and out in our community.

A few summer highlights so far: 🌞

Our second Ballet Bound Summer Audition Tour starts Saturday June 4 at Boone Square from 10-11am. In partnership with Olmsted Parks Conservancy and the NoCo Arts District of Jeffersonville, IN, we will hold seven outdoor audition workshops this summer throughout our community to identify dancers for the 2022-23 Ballet Bound Class.

Know a child between 7-9 years old who loves to dance? Let them know about this amazing opportunity. Register, read more about our Ballet Bound initiative and get a full list of our Audition Tour locations and dates here.

The Louisville Ballet School has officially kicked off their summer semester with fun day camps and dance experiences for a range of ages and experience levels. A few spots are still available to keep young dancers moving all summer long. You can find out more about summer programs and register via The Louisville Ballet School website here.

Our third mind. body. balance. adult summer intensive and its participating adult students brought such great energy to our Main Street Studios. The session concludes with a free “Art Moves” performance at 21c Hotel and Museum on Saturday, June 4 at 11am.

Prior to the performance, 21c Louisville museum manager Karen Gillenwater and art therapist Jennifer Kramer will share the selected artworks from the 21c exhibition Still, Life! Mourning, Meaning, Mending and site-specific installations so you can also take in these works while enjoying the performance.

I know they would be thrilled if you joined them. And if you’re interested in more dance and fitness opportunities, find out more about our mind. body. balance. adult class and workshop experiences here.

Coming soon – we will once again be part of Kentucky Shakespeare’s Shakespeare Festival in Central Park with our own version of “As You Like It,” August 3-7, 2022. With original choreography by former Louisville Ballet Company Artist Roger Creel, this production promises to be a delight. We are also excited to announce that more community partners will be joining us as part of this week of performances and we can’t wait to announce those details.

We hope you join us in a park, inside our studios, or under the stars soon!
