Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Emily trained and danced at Fort Wayne Ballet under the direction of Michael Tevlin, Judy Jacob and Robert Kelley. She earned her BSOF in Ballet and Arts Administration from Indiana University in 2000, studying with Violette Verdy, Leslie Peck, and Jacques Cesbron. Emily joined Louisville Ballet upon graduation and has had the unique privilege of working under the directorship of Alun Jones, Helen Starr, Bruce Simpson and Robert Curran. Some of her most memorable classical roles include Fairy of Charm in Sleeping Beauty, Red Girls in Les Patineurs, Winter Fairy in Cinderella, Rose in The Nutcracker, Two Swans in Swan Lake and Pas De Trois in Suite En Blanc. Some of her favorite contemporary roles have been Balanchines Serenade, Square Dance, Concerto Borocco, Pas de Trois in Agon, Rubies, and Demi Soloist in Theme and Varations, as well as Company B, Nine Sinatra Songs, Going for Baroque, Variations Serieuses, Etesian and Tethered Pulse. Emily’s favorite moments have been working with Adam Hougland to create new works such as Cold Virtues, Made to be Broken, Devolve, Unyielding Radiance, Union and above all, performing the principal role as the Chosen One in his Rite Of Spring.
