In keeping with Louisville Ballet’s practice of operating with an abundance of caution during the pandemic while also acknowledging the easing of concerns and lifting of restrictions city, state and country wide, Louisville Ballet is asking that all participants wear a mask while indoors at the Ballet Center (315 E. Main St.)
Masks will be removed for a headshot to be taken and while auditioning. Auditions will be held in smaller groups to enable more space between participants and breaks will be taken to allow for air exchange. Added air purification and circulation will be employed in all common/shared areas. Covid protocols for rehearsals and performances will be communicated at a later date and are subject to change.
Auditions will take place on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 10:00AM to 3:30PM at Louisville Ballet’s studios at 315 East Main Street. Registration for the first audition opens at 9:00AM. Children should arrive 30 minutes before all other audition times.

We consider our Children’s Cast to be a vital and important part of The Brown-Forman Nutcracker each year. Because we take their roles very seriously, we ask that you and your child take your potential participation just as seriously. All Children’s Cast members are expected to commit to attending all scheduled rehearsals and performances. Beyond that, we expect our important Children’s Cast members to fully commit to giving their best effort when they share studios and the stage with our professional company.
Please carefully review the following performance dates and rehearsal schedule to determine if you and your child, if cast, are ready to join us for this exciting production.
Please note that our rehearsal schedules are finalized by Louisville Ballet Atistic Staff. We will provide a complete rehearsal schedule to children who are cast and will update our website with the most up-to-date information regarding any schedule changes including rehearsals, costume fittings, etc.
We will schedule a parent information session to give more details about our expectations, to meet other parents and to address any questions you may have regarding your child’s participation. We will provide the time and date for this meeting following your child’s audition.
Our Nutcracker Children’s Cast members may be required to rehearse on any or all of the following days. Please note that times listed below are for example only; this schedule is ONLY to give you a general idea of the time commitment involved in your participation.
Below are the dates and times when your child MAY BE required to rehearse. Further details will be available upon casting.

An Audition Workshop will take place at Louisville Ballet Studios on Sunday, August 15 from 3:30PM – 4:30PM. This workshop was created for dancers new to the audition process to provide guidance on how to have a successful audition. Audition Workshop topics will include audition etiquette, appearance, and the overall audition process. Parents will drop off at 3:20 PM and will return at 4:30 PM for pick-up.
Participation within the Audition Workshop will hold no bearings on the outcome of The Brown-Forman Nutcracker Children’s Cast Audition. The purpose of the Audition Workshop is to help prepare aspiring performers to put their best foot forward at any auditions! Registration for the workshop is available on a first come, first serve basis. Space is limited and registration is required.
