Dr. Eric Isaacson Announced as Louisville Ballet Interim Executive Director

Dr. Eric Isaacson

LOUISVILLE, KY, Monday, March 1, 2021 – Louisville Ballet is pleased to welcome Dr. Eric Isaacson as Interim Executive Director, effective starting Monday, March 1, 2021.

About Eric Isaacson

Currently associate professor of music theory at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Eric has served in administrative roles for most of the last 20 years, including chair of the music theory department and most recently director of graduate studies. Well known as one of the world’s leading, and largest, music schools, the Jacobs School also boasts one of the nation’s largest collegiate ballet programs.

Some of Eric’s nonprofit experience includes founding the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble and serving as its music director for five years, becoming the first conductor of the Brass Band at Indiana, and serving as treasurer for the Society of Music Theory.

Most recently Eric has worked as a pro bono consultant for the Louisville Ballet and the Louisville Orchestra and has spent the last year in Louisville while on sabbatical from IU, during which he has completed a book manuscript, Visualizing Music, under contract with Indiana University Press. The book dovetails with his interest and background in data analytics.

As Eric explains, “I’m delighted for the opportunity to work with an immensely dedicated staff and a passionate board in helping to support the realization of Robert Curran’s bold artistic vision for the Louisville Ballet, one of the city’s most brilliant gems, as it completes a stunning virtual season and prepares for a ground-breaking 70th anniversary season.”
