Gail Benedict received her B.F.A. in Theatre and Dance from the California Institute of the Arts. She earned her M.F.A. in Directing and Choreography from the University of Louisville. Ms. Benedict danced with several renowned modern and ballet companies in San Francisco and Los Angeles after college before beginning her Broadway Musical Theatre career in New York City as assistant choreographer to her mentor, Donald McKayle. She spent more than twenty years performing leading roles in Broadway shows, film, television, national/international tours and Music Videos while continually studying with all the most respected acting, voice and dance instructors in the world.
Before relocating to Louisville to work at Actors’ Theatre she spent six years assisting Bob Fosse and recreating his international hit show, Dancin’.
She continues to direct, choreograph, perform and teach professionally throughout the United States and recently retired as the chair of the nationally recognized Musical Theatre Program at the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, Kentucky.
