Student Matinee Performances

Join Louisville Ballet for a specially-designed student matinee! Educators and students have the opportunity to enjoy a live performance while getting a behind-the-scenes look at ballet and the performing arts. All student matinees are one hour and include excerpts from the production performed by Louisville Ballet. In addition, educators receive a comprehensive Study Guide before the performance to enhance the experience for students.

The real and the supernatural worlds of Eastern Kentucky collide in this tragic retelling of a ballet classic. Giselle is the romantic story of a beautiful coal miner’s daughter and the disguised son of a mining magnate. In the real world, their love is doomed. In the spiritual world, it may be saved.

Romeo & Juliet

Friday, March 1, 2024
11:00 am – 12:15 pm
Whitney Hall, The Kentucky Center
Suitable for Grades 6 – 12

Louisville Ballet’s own breath-taking production beautifully portrays the bitter feud between the Montague and Capulet families that disrupts the city of Verona and ends in tragedy for Romeo and Juliet. Revenge, love, and a secret marriage force the young star-crossed lovers to grow up far too quickly —
and fate takes their lives.
