Academy Program

Academy Program students aspire to a high standard of excellence and professionalism. The goal is to inspire a passion for dance and encourage students to realize their individual potential through the attention offered by world class faculty to help prepare them for a post-secondary or collegiate setting. Students’ dance education in this program includes three weekly technique classes, pointe work, conditioning, repertoire as well as the opportunity to train and perform in complementary dance disciplines. Much like a college setting, dancers are able to create their own schedule to focus on areas of interest. The Academy Program is for students who exhibit the technical, emotional and mental readiness along with a serious interest in, and a commitment to their dance education and is by invitation only. Classes are held at the St. Matthews Studios.

All Academy Program students are invited to participate in Fall Showcase and Spring Dance Festival. Weekly rehearsals will be held during a dedicated rehearsal period by level.

Dress Code

The student dress code maintains the tradition and aesthetic of classical ballet and allows instructors to see the full lines of the students’ bodies. As such, all students must wear the required uniform colors and styles.  View the Uniform Page for more detailed uniform requirements for each level. Required styles and colors are reasonably priced and are available for purchase through The Louisville Ballet School.
